Remarks:
This report embraces none other than Freed People:
In obedience to Par. 3 Circular 6 of April 10th, 1867 I have frequently requested the President of the Police Jury of this Parish (A. Linette) to furnish me with the number, names, ages, sex and residence of persons who are in an indigent or helpless condition and whose wants the Parish authorities are unable to relieve, but up to this time no attention has been paid to my request, except that I have been informed that the Parish authorities are unable to relieve the wants of the Destitute in the Parish on account of the impoverished condition of the Parish Treasury.
I have personally inspected the condition of the persons named in this report & am satisfied that they require assistance to prevent actual suffering. The supplies required are Pork and Corn Meal and the same should be shipped to Houma, La.
