Osborn King, Freedman
Testimony in relation to the killing of Kit by his old Master John Echols
Osborn King, Freedman, being duly sworn testifies as follows ----
That he was not present at the killing of Kit but saw the body after he was killed lying close to the cabin occupied by Mr. Echols.
Examination by the agent of the Freedmen's Bureau
Q. Had you any time previous to the killing of Kit heard any of the freedmen on Mr. Echol's plantation threaten Mr. Echols or his son William.
A. I did not but I have heard them say that they would not leave the plantation but would die before they would let other negroes come on the place farther than that I have heard no threats.
2nd Q. What is your age.
A. Fifty one years old.

Wm. Jones, Freedman
Testimony in relation to the killing of Kit by his former Master John Echols
William Jones, Freedman, being duly sworn testifies as follows ----
I was not present at the killing of Cit but was at the gin house. I heard the gun half an hour afterwards. I went to the house and saw Cit lying near the cabin occupied by Mr. Echols.
Q. by Mr. Echols --- Do you know whether I requested them to leave the place in peace after they were paid their wages.
A. I did.
2nd Q. What time that morning did you go to the gin house to work and was Cit with you.
A. We went to work about one ½ hour after sunrise. Shortly after that Cit came bringing a clean shirt with him and left shortly afterwards.
3rd. Did you notice Cit with a butcher knife that morning.
A. I did not and I think if he had one I should have seen it.
