Testimony in relation to the killing of Kit by his former Master John Echols
Caleb Wright, Freedman being duly sworn testifies as follows ----
I was not present at the killing of Cit but I have heard Cit & Washington say that they would die before they would leave the place, that they would kill their old master before they would leave or be killed themselves, that I told them that it would not do. They went on so with their threats that he did not want to live with them but came to the Post Oak place and told my old mistress.
Examined by the Agent of the Freedman's Bureau ---
Q. Did you ever see the two clubs.
A. They belonged to Cit and Jim, they carried them regularly. They kept them so that they could use them at any time.

Testimony in relation to the killing of Kit by John Echols
Buck Munson Freedman being duly sworn testified as follows ----
1st. That he was not present and knows nothing about the killing of Cit.
Examined by the Agent of the Freedmen's Bureau ----
Q. Did you at any time previous to the Saturday morning of the killing of Cit hear Cit, Wash or Jim or any other of the Freedmen threaten Mr. Echols or his son.
A. I did not.
