I have the honor to submit herewith report of murders, outrages &c committed on colored people from Jany. 1st to Oct. 31st 68.
Milton Brown (c) killed by Ben W. Bloom (w), June 17, 68 in Scraven Co. Brown was acquitted, having acted in self defense.
Isaac Gilburth (c) killed by Prince Johnson (c), Feb. 21, 68 in Chatham Co. Was tried and found guilty but granted a new trial, is now confined in Chatham Co. Jail.
Columbus Wilcox (c) killed by Isaac James Clements (c), July '68 in Chatham Co. Now in Chatham Co. Jail awaiting trial. A true bill having been found of murder.
Sambo ?Jones (c) killed by Callas Durham (c), July 30, '68, Chatham Co. Now in jail awaiting trial, a true bill of murder having been found against him.
In the early part of July, a colored man was mortally wounded near W. A. & G. R. R. By a white man name unknown. The wounded man was brought to the hospital where I saw him. He refused to give his name or names of the party who shot him. It seemed from his own admission that he was shot while stealing. He died the same day.
